About Us

Ci-Square, a 3^rd generation family run Maltese business is a leader in the food retail sector. Specialising in delicatessen, today Ci-Square supplies high quality pre-packs to various retail outlets throughout the Maltese Islands.

From the humble beginnings of a market stall, today Ci-Square has grown into a leading player in the local food retail sector. With a strong investment in staff training and state of the art equipment Ci-Square have reached a production process of the highest quality. Products are guaranteed to reach customers packed to high standards thus retaining the goodness and original nutritional characteristics.

Our History

Joseph Farrugia started the business at a stall in the legendary Valletta Food Market. It was soon after the end of World War II and times were tough. After the hardships sustained during the war, customers looked forward to more choice, value and service. Known locally as “Is-Suq tal-Belt”, the market was soon revived to the culinary hub of Malta. The smells and sounds of the market lured in shoppers from all over the island.

In the time where small village grocery shops used to a have a limited selection of delicatessen items to offer, it was customary for Maltese families to regularly stock up on their favorite foods by visiting the Valletta Food Market. With hard work and determination Joseph Farrugia established a good clientele. Client base also included hotels, restaurants and ships.

In 1982 the Valletta Food Market was closed down. Most of the retailers spread out to various locations around the island.

The Ci-Square business was transferred to Cathedral Street, Sliema. Here customers started to enjoy the delicious range of products and sterling service. It was a great success.

In the early 90’s Joseph’s son William took over this section of the business and ventured out opening Ci-Square supermarket in St. Paul’s Bay.

Inspired by the family ethos of delivering quality products and excellent customer service William’s sons Stefan and Renald have also joined their father at Ci-Square.
